Latency & Dark Order Books

Remember the good old days, FIX connectivity 64k, 128k… With the adjunct of smart order routers interacting with dark order books how important has latency become to these venues? I am seeing signals from customers concerned about latency to these venues and will take higher bandwidths to ensure they have the best through-put. Trend or Niche?

Market Data Growth: Who's got the best mouse trap?

Latency monitoring, packet loss and mirco-bursting, three buzz words we talk about a lot in the infrastructure space. I am continually asked about hardware, software solutions that can be used to monitor and manage the rapid growth of market data feeds and associated bandwidth. I have personally worked with the Niksun equipment and found the solution works fine however it is quite expensive along with having to give them a list of additional features to develop. I know there are other vendors like Corvil and RTI that provide solutions. Who’s got the best mouse trap?

At last it is here!! From regions around the world I know you have all been patiently waiting for this blog to go live so without further ado let me welcome you to the Market Data and Trading Infrastructure Professionals Blog! Our Purpose: To discuss in an open format business, industry, regulatory and technical issues that are affecting the infrastructure carrying market data and trades. Our Content: This is what will make or break any blog so my mission is to encourage participants in the group to email questions and/or topics of discussion. It is important to keep content fresh so I will utilize a wide variety of subject matter experts to cover different topics.
